I've been distracted lately but I haven't stopped working on stuff. I've been drawing and working on a new short animation (I'll post some shots in the future). This is just a thank you card that I thought turned out pretty well. I'm always looking for ideas and different things to draw. I had drawn this in October and forgot about it for a while. This is the first drawing of Skull Kid. I'm in the early stages of writing a script with this little guy in it. I'm sure you'll see more of him in the future.

This was just a really, really simple cycle I made so I could mess around with symbols and motion paths in Flash. For added hilarity, listen to the National Anthem of the Soviet Union.

New Header

The new HAPPYBOY header is based on an inside jokes amongst a couple of my friends and myself. Some of us have personal titles that kind of turn into personas when we all hangout together. For example, my friend Eric is a champion, my other friend Ian is a professional and I am a patriot. I guess it only really makes sense if you were to hang around us for a bit and only really funny to the people involved. Just take my word for it, it's hilarious (maybe).
Also, this just gave me an excuse to use Illustrator. I love the program and I haven't had a chance to use it for a while. I'll probably change the header every time I feel like messing around in Illustrator or if another inside joke crops up (next time it will be funnier).

Skull Kid

This was just a quick "exercise" for me to get the hang of using symbols in Flash along with traditional frame by frame animation. This process was something I picked up while interning at Augenblick Studios. I had never used symbols while working in Flash, so it took me a bit to figure out how to make them work. Once you get the hang of it, it's a nice way to cut down on production time. Also, this process is great because it keeps your workspace tidy. Since you are animating within a symbol, you can make more complex animations without having a bunch of layers clutter your timeline. Thanks to whomever at Augenblick Studios for coming up with this process!
(I'm still getting reacquainted with my tablet, but I like the wiggle)

So, I've been asked to design another tattoo. This time it's for my best friends' (Ian and Eric) older brother. This is just a part of it, but I think it turned out pretty well so far. There is still more to incorporate, but I like it on it's own.

Late Xmas card for my Dad

This is the now very late Xmas card I made for my dad. He's mildly obsessed with eagles (which has turned into a running gag with me and my siblings) and his favorite adjective is "powerful" (which is also a running gag). I guess it's only really funny if you knew my dad.

Revamp: part deux

This is the second time I've changed the name, scrapped everything, and started fresh. This time, I'm going to try and make it work and start adding more content. I'll give myself one more chance to add substance, otherwise I'll just call it quits with blogs. I'm not sure if anyone still reads my blog, but if you do, tell your friends that this time it wont be lame.
